日本でも「おさるのジョージ」という呼び名で有名なキャラクターで、
言葉はしゃべらないものの、かなり擬人化されている。
自立した行動ができる上に周囲からもそれが認められていて、
好奇心旺盛なGeorgeがいろいろな体験をしていく。
英文はどれもシンプルなもので、
中学英語が身に付いていれば
ほとんどつまらずにスラスラと読めるレベル。
１作目である「Curious George」以降はナンバリングされていないため、
どの順序で読むべきかが判断できないのだが、
巻によって話のボリュームや難易度に結構な差があった。
ほとんど何も起こらずにあっさりと終わるものもあれば
それなりの起伏が用意されているものもあるが、
おおよそページ数に比例しているので
自分の実力にあったものから読み始めるのがいいだろう。
